Diffraction

Diffraction Film Campaign

Film Summary:
Diffraction is a student film that follows a young Army veteran turned university janitor who discovers that a professor on campus is secretly building experimental weapons for mercenaries and testing them on homeless individuals around the university. As she uncovers the truth, she must outsmart the smartest—and most dangerous—person on campus before more people die.

Challenge:
Independent student films struggle for visibility against major streaming platforms. Our goal was to raise awareness and drive interest in Diffraction among 18–24-year-olds who enjoy thrillers but rarely seek out indie films.

Insight:
Young audiences discover films through social media, not active searching. But they connect deeply with stories about identity, purpose, and underestimated people proving their worth. Diffraction offers both a gripping thriller and a meaningful message: there are no “little people.”

Solution:
We positioned Diffraction as a thriller with heart, using poster design and out of home ads to highlight both the suspense and the emotional core. By combining genre-driven hooks with a relatable message of resilience, we made the film feel relevant, discoverable, and worth watching.
